Comments from current [and previous] editions.

This is another fine text from the successful 'Crash Course' series. It is presented in a different format to the other preclinical 'Crash Course' titles. Part I takes the reader through the principles of the subject, with topics such as inflammation, tissue damage/repair, neoplasia, infection and inherited disease. Part II examines the pathological disorders involving each organ system, whilst also incorporating important clinical aspects. Part III is a self-assessment section that provides a good range of multiple-choice, short-answer and essay questions.

The text is concise and clear, whilst also readable and easy to understand throughout. There are numerous diagrams and summary tables, which help to commit the facts to memory and allow quick access to information. Hints and tips boxes highlight key facts and common exam questions.

One useful addition would have been some macroscopic or microscopic photographic images of the processes and disorders discussed, which are often a key part in understanding the pathology involved.

Nonetheless, it provides a succinct, simple, affordable introduction and revision aid to the subject of pathology.

Amazon reviewer, 2004

I wanted a concise book that gave me most of the things that could go wrong with the human body in as little detail as possible but still easy to understand and this is it. Even though it is aimed at medical students its still an excellent resource book for other medical staff.

AK Bentley, Amazon 2005

This book covers the essentials of the pathology. While in no way a complete text on pathology this book sorts the wheat from the chaff and gives you all the facts you need in a simple format that doesn't involve double negatives or a degree in Latin. It's easy to use and great for refreshing your memory or revising, because it is written by students for students. One of my favourite features is the multiple choice questions in the back
