The criticism on Beckett, Pinter and Stoppard is abundant, comprising monographs, biographies and numerous articles. However, with the exception of the discussion of the Theatre of Absurd and Beckett's influence on Pinter and Stoppard in this respect, no comparison of the work of the three playwright has been written so far. And it is worthwile to do so because, despite of the distinctive features which typify the creativity of each of them, their output is also characterised by a number of shared features. Therefore I have decided to write this study whose aim is, firstly, to discuss the distinctive features of the oeuvre of each of them as well as similarities which epitomize the output of the three artists. Secondly, I intend to examine in detail their directorial practice concerning the production ot their three plays.
