Caroline wakes up in a Paris hospital with no memory of her past and is surprised to learn that she has been living an uninteresting life in a spacious apartment on the banks of the Seine. Her memory is slowly returning, but she can't shake the feeling that she's in danger. In one of the lockers, Caroline finds a woman's letters from the terrible year 1943. Their author, Celine, is a young widow who lived in Nazi-occupied Paris. In these letters is the story of her difficult life, full of fear of death, the story of the choice Celine once made to save the most precious person in her life.Aware of someone else's pain, will Caroline be able to recover her own memories and realize that she and Celine have more in common than she ever imagined...
