"Mariana Andros is a brilliant psychotherapist who is grieving the death of her husband. Edward Fosca is a handsome professor, a teacher of the Greek tragedy course in Cambridge, a favorite of female students. The destinies of these two seemingly unrelated people will fatally cross. Mariana is overcome by a kind of obsessive conviction of Fosca's guilt: the woman notices in him a narcissistic sociopath obsessed with the cult of Persephone. He leads a secret society of "Virgos" whose followers worship him like a god. But only Mariana seems to see Fosca's sinister intentions. Soon one of the students is found dead with her throat cut and her eyes gouged out. And the journey to Persephone's afterlife begins. However, Mariana is determined to prove Fosca's guilt, even at the cost of her own life."
