This is a comparative study opf two different kinds of verb movement in the Germanic languages, using the Government and Binding Theory. One involves the position of the finite verb, and the other the possible positions of the "e;logical"e; subject in constructions with expletive subjects. Vikner includes in his study the less commonly discussed Germanic languages of Icelandic, Faroese, and Yiddish.
